Carver County Seeks Feedback on Funding High Priority Road and Bridge Projects

The County faces a budget gap of $128 Million to complete identified high priority road and bridge projects.

To meet that budget gap and take care of those high priority roads and bridges, the County is considering an increase of $10 per year per vehicle (the Wheelage Tax), a Sales Tax of ½ percent, and a $20 Excise Tax on vehicle purchases – all tied to high priority road and bridge projects.

Projects in Victoria that could be funded with this mechanism in place include: Hwy 5 from Hwy 41 to Rolling Acres Road, Highway 5 from Rolling Acres Road to Victoria Drive, expanding a planned Rolling Acres improvement project to include the intersections at Hwy 5 and Hwy 7, and constructing the extension of 82nd Street/Lyman Blvd.  The City has also requested that the County consider adding an intersection project at CR 11/43/18 to the list.  You can see the full map of projects that could be funded here.

The County has developed a web forum to receive public feedback.  Click here to participate!

The County Board will hold a Public Hearing on this subject on Tuesday, April 11.
