streets. Snow removal will begin when there is two inches or more of accumulated snow in the City of Victoria. The process of snow
removal from both city streets, walking trails and sidewalks takes anywhere from six to ten hours to complete to ensure city residents
have safe traveling conditions.
Please keep in mind that snow plows typically travel at 10-15 m.p.h. below the speed limit, and for safety
purposes please stay well back of an operating plow.
Q. When will my street get plowed after a snow storm?
A. The Public Works Department tries to follow the schedule to the right when plowing snow in the City of Victoria.
Please keep in mind that certain weather conditions can delay our progress towards meeting these goals.

Q. Why does the snow plow keep knocking over my mail box?
A. The City requests that all mailboxes are set back at least 3 feet from the curb to ensure that they are not in direct line of getting hit by plowed snow. It is the homeowners responsibility to keep the snow clear around their mailbox and to keep their mailbox in good repair so the weight of the snow from the plows will not knock the box over.
Q. A rock from a City plow chipped my windshield. Does the City pay for my windshield?
A. No. Drivers should stay well back when following any snow plow. These trucks will be putting salt and sand on the roads. This distance is also for your own safety, because snow plows generally go slower than the posted speeds.
Q. Are there on-street parking restrictions during snow storms?
A. Yes. Parking on the street is prohibited from 11 p.m. to 6 a.m. after all snow falls or until the street are plowed curb to curb.
Water Information
The department is responsible for the maintenance of the system for the City of Victoria.
Q. Are there any water usage restrictions in the City?
A. Yes. As part of the State Mandated - Water Conservation Plan, and, in order to assure adequate water supply, the City Council passed an ordinance (Chapter 26; Section 26-30) effective annually from May 1 to September 30, which requires all non-essential water usage, such as lawn and garden sprinkling, irrigation, and car washing to be based on an odd/even watering cycle and a time of day watering restriction in which no person shall irrigate between the hours of 10:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. on any day of the week.
Compliance with this ordinance is mandatory. Failure to comply may result in a fine.
Special permit consideration will be given for those property owners with new seed or sod.
Street Maintenance
One of the main responsibilities of the Public Works Department is a variety of street maintenance services. These services include
street sweeping, seal coating, patching, boulevard repair and reconstruction of city streets.
Q. When does the City sweep the streets?
A. All surfaced City streets, parking lots, medians and City maintained sidewalks are swept in the spring of the year (beginning
the first week of April if weather permits) and again in the fall (typically at the end of September). "Spot" sweeping occurs during
the summer months as needed after a rain, an accident that has resulted in debris on the road, or at the request of a resident.
Q. There is a pothole on the street in front of my house. Who do I call?
A. Call (952) 443-4210, fill out the online Pothole Reporting Form,
or email us. We will
either spot patch the pot hole after it is reported, or we will
add the location to our list for our regular maintenance schedule.
Park Maintenance
The department is responsible for maintaining and repairing all of the city parks, park buildings, walking trails and park equipment to
ensure their longevity in the community.
Q. I noticed that there is a damaged swing at a local park. Who do I call?
A. Call (952) 443-4210, or email us.
