Advisory Committees and Commissions

Victoria residents are invited to make an impact on their community and the future of Victoria by serving on a City advisory commission or committee.

These City Council-appointed positions are responsible for researching, reviewing and making recommendations on a variety of different issues.

Interviews will be conducted by City Council at a City Council Workshop. If you apply, please ensure you can attend the following meetings:

  • Parks & Recreation Committee Applicant Interviews: 
    • March 13, 2023, at 5:30 p.m. (New Date)
  • Senior Advisory Committee Applicant Interviews: 
    • March 13, 2023, at 5:30 p.m. (New Date)
  • Planning Commission Applicant Interviews: 
    • March 13, 2023, at 5:30 p.m.
A mandatory Open Meeting Law & Data Practices training will occur on March 20, 2023, from 5:00-6:00 p.m. for all newly appointed members.

All terms begin on April 1, 2023, are open to all Victoria residents ages 18 and older. Youth commission appointments are open to any resident students who will be a high school junior or senior in the fall of 2023.

Parks & Recreation Committee

The Parks & Recreation Committee is the advisory body that reviews and makes recommendations on issues related to recreation, leisure, parks and open space.

Meetings are normally held the third Monday of each month at 6:30 p.m.

  • Two (2) Regular Members for a three-year term (2023-2026)
  • One (1) Student Member for a one-year term (2023-2024)
Planning Commission

The Planning Commission is the advisory body that reviews, researches and makes recommendations on issues related to site plans, subdivisions, land use and zoning.

Meetings are normally held the first and third Tuesdays of each month at 6 p.m.

  • Two (2) Regular Members for a three-year term (2023-2026)
  • One (1) Regular Member for a one-year term (2023-2024)
  • Two Alternate Members for a continuous term or until appointed as a regular member
Senior Advisory Committee

The new Senior Advisory Committee focuses on providing recommendations and advocating for resources, programming, and education for Victoria residents age 55+.

Meetings are normally held the first Monday of each month at 10 a.m.
